Samsung TV Setup & Troubleshooting

Samsung Smart TV Setup

Universal Remote works with all Samsung Smart TVs from 2016 onwards running Tizen OS.

How to Connect

  1. Ensure your iPhone and Samsung TV are on the same WiFi network
  2. Open Universal Remote — your Samsung TV appears automatically
  3. Tap your Samsung TV to initiate connection
  4. A prompt appears on your TV: "Allow 'Universal Remote' to connect?"
  5. Press "Allow" using your existing remote or TV buttons
  6. You're connected!

Enabling Power-On (Wake-on-LAN)

To turn your Samsung TV on from the app:

  1. On your Samsung TV, go to Settings → General → Network
  2. Enable "Power On with Mobile" (or "Wake on LAN")
  3. Your TV can now be powered on remotely from Universal Remote

Common Issues

TV not found during scanning

  • Confirm both devices are on the same WiFi network
  • Make sure the TV is fully powered on (not in standby)
  • Check if your router has "AP Isolation" enabled — disable it
  • Try entering your TV's IP address manually (Settings → Network → IP Address)
  • Restart your Samsung TV and try scanning again

Connection denied or timed out

  • When the connection prompt appears on your TV, press "Allow" within 30 seconds
  • If you accidentally pressed "Deny", go to TV Settings → General → External Device Manager → Device Connection Manager → Access Notification → Allow
  • Restart the TV and try connecting again

Remote works but some buttons don't respond

  • Some Samsung TV models don't support all commands (e.g., older models may not support app launching)
  • Ensure your TV's firmware is up to date: Settings → Support → Software Update
